Popular "Art Throwdown" fundraiser returns to The Center for Contemporary Art
EntSun News/11020083
BEDMINSTER, N.J. - EntSun -- The Center for Contemporary Art ("The Center") is happy to announce the return of the annual, popular, afternoon fundraiser for the whole family, the "Art Throwdown," on Sunday, April 21 from 3-4:30pm.
This year it's even bigger and better with "Art Throwdown – Teams Edition." Eight, three-person, teams will be made up of The Center's teaching artists, students/artists, individual artists, Board members, and community partners. Team leaders will be Susan Bleignier (community partner from Hunterdon Preparatory School in Clinton, NJ), Tracy DiTolla (individual artist), Wendy Hallstrom (teaching artist painting), Shourabh Mukherji (artist and Board member), Lori Pearson (teaching artist ceramics) John Reinking (teaching artist ceramics), Wes Sherman (teaching artist painting and art appreciation), and Carolyn Thow (community partner from Whittemore – Community, Culture & Conservation in Lebanon, NJ).
What's a throwdown? Each team will create a work of art on the spot. The catch? They must also incorporate three items from inside a "mystery box" and have only one hour to complete their artwork.

While the artists are busy creating, guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites and participate in a drawing for the chance to go home with one of the original artworks. Light refreshments will be served.
Tickets to the fundraiser are $35 each for ages 16+, and free for children 15 and under. Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.ccabedminster.org or at the door the day of the event for $40. Participation in the spring fundraiser will contribute to The Center's success and help it thrive as a source of exceptional community art programs.
"Art Throwdown" Sponsors: Coldwell Banker Bedminster/Bridgewater; EMD Electronics; Etta & John Marshall; The Merrill G. and Emita E. Hastings Foundation; Morey, Nee, Buck & Oswald; Risk Strategies - Meeker Sharkey & Hurley.
