Orlando Resident Wins Grand Prize in Steve Harvey's Standup Spotlight

Ken Miller, an Orlando-based award-winning comedian and veteran, will be flown to Los Angeles to meet Steve Harvey and perform live
ORLANDO, Fla. - EntSun -- Comedian and actor Steve Harvey set out to find the world's next top comedian through a contest called Standup Spotlight. Out of over 1,000 comedians who entered, Harvey selected Ken Miller, known as the godfather of Orlando comedy, as the grand prize winner.
"I became emotional to receive validation from one of the Kings of Comedy after doing standup for 13 years," says Ken Miller. "I've always wanted to be a standup comic, and I'm hoping this opportunity will open more doors for me to do what I love."
Miller will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles to meet Harvey and get advice from him on how to build a successful career in comedy. He will also meet with a talent agent and have the opportunity to perform at a comedy club in LA. Harvey announced to the world that he chose Miller as the winner through an Instagram video (https://www.instagram.com/p/B4lVuLhHdYN/?igshid...) from Botswana, as well as on his Facebook page.

"I've been such a student of the game my whole life. I know funny when I see it," Harvey explained in making the announcement. "The reason I picked Ken is because he had such rich, relatable material."
Miller's standup clip submission was titled "I am just a father." Miller chose the clip he submitted to Harvey's Standup Spotlight because he felt it best represents him as a comic and father, which provides him with rich material.
"I'm a dad who has made some funny mistakes raising my kids," added Miller, a father of two. "Most people can relate to that."
Miller was born and raised in Greensboro, N.C. After spending time in the Army, he now resides in Orlando, Fla. He performs regularly for the Improv/Funnybone, Bonkers Comedy Club, Side Splitters, and numerous comedy clubs across the nation. He is a headliner who has also opened for Guy Torry, Jim Norton, Paul Mooney, Eddie Griffin, Tom Segura, John Henton, Patrice O'Neal, Marc Curry, and many other nationally recognized comedians.
