Non-profit Brings New First Take to Florida's Film and TV Industry

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - EntSun -- After years of behind-the-scenes development by a team of seasoned Florida professionals, Feature Florida Partnerships (FFP) has received approval from the IRS to begin non-profit operations, activating its effort to create a secure environment to grow an indigenous Florida film infrastructure that isn't reliant on state funding or tax incentives.

Feature Films Partnerships enters the market with a new take on film & TV funding—private equity managed by the non-profit FFP. This effort establishes regional financing funds for independent film and episodic television in the $2-$12 million range. These funds will stimulate consolidation of Florida crew, cast, and support businesses, creating an innovative financing resource for aspiring Florida filmmakers transitioning to more significant budgets while also re-positioning Florida as a key player in the domestic marketplace for film and television production.

FFP executive director and chair of industry association COMPASS Chris Ranung stated that "the Partnership is committed to bringing key business, state, and community leaders together with industry professionals to reinvigorate this historically important contributor to Florida's economic prosperity."
