NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - EntSun -- Tonight, the 22nd Annual Newport Beach Film Festival will present its Japanese Spotlight, an evening celebration of Japanese cinema and culture. The event will feature the US Premiere of the film WE MAKE ANTIQUES! KYOTO RENDEZVOUS (USOHAPPYAKU KYOMACHI ROYALE) followed by a festive Pacific Rim Gala.
WE MAKE ANTIQUES! KYOTO RENDEZVOUS (USOHAPPYAKU KYOMACHI ROYALE) is a mystery that follows a dowdy antique dealer in Kyoto who is asked by a beautiful lady, Shino (Ryoko Hirouse), to find a swindled historical and valuable teacup made by Master Oriole in the 16th century and passed on by her late father. The dealer and a pottery artist give Shino an authentic-looking imitation. Recognizing their skills, she proposes a deal to earn big money in a con game, leading them to get revenge on the villains who stained their reputation in the past. WE MAKE ANTIQUES! KYOTO RENDEZVOUS (USOHAPPYAKU KYOMACHI ROYALE) is directed by Masaharu Take and stars Kiichi Nakai, Kuranosuke Sasaki, and Ryoko Hirosue.
