Moving On Up! Mizner CC's Women's Team Tennis Wins Division 2B For 2020-21 Season

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - EntSun -- For the second straight mini-season Mizner Country Club's Women's Tennis Team has won their 2B Division.  The Mizner win also means that the women's team now advances to the more competitive Division 2A.

Tara Artel, team captain and Missy Gache, team co-captain, both commented on their win. "2B or not 2B? What an amazing year we have had! Between the hard-working, dedicated ladies on the team and our amazing coaches, we all came together for not one, but two winning mini-seasons. This was such a special group of women who all supported each other, both on and off the court, which definitely helped lead to our success.  So onward and upward we go!" said the ladies' captain. "Looking forward to another great season with a great group of women.  2A here we come," the team's co-captain further commented.

Announcing their win, Vernon Gettone Jr., Mizner Country Club's Director of Tennis, said, "The ladies had a tremendous year. With the season being a unique one, due to COVID, it was separated into two mini-seasons. Mizner clinched the first win in the last match of the first mini-season and was also honored with the Sportsmanship award."

Gettone continues, "The ladies went into the second mini-season with a lot of confidence, and their level of play elevated.  With the momentum and a higher level of play, the team won the 2nd mini-season by 21 points. Their success in both moves the team up one division to D2A. I am so proud of this team for not only being great players but showing great camaraderie."

Larry S. Savvides, Mizner Country Club's General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, adds, "It's my utmost pleasure to congratulate our Division 2B Team. This is a special moment for a team that worked very hard to achieve this amazing feat. They not only had to endure extremely competitive matches within South Palm Beach County, but also the unique obstacles that Covid restrictions presented.  And the winning didn't stop there. Our 2B Sportsmanship Award winners embody what team sports are all about -- treating others fairly with integrity and friendliness, and respect for both authority and opponents.
