Michigan Welcome Center Visitors Have New On-The-Go Experience
EntSun News/10949845
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - EntSun -- The West Michigan Tourist Association partnered with WMVision (formerly Weather Metrics) to create a digital travel resource for those stopping at Michigan's welcome centers.
An update to the travelmi.tv web app and site launched in August 2022. It provides enhanced listings including searchable advertisers by region.
The primary goal during the redesign process was to create a more valuable, user-centric, responsive source across platforms that aimed to enhance the "on-the-go" visibility outside of the welcome centers exclusively as well as highlight and promote our paid partners who choose to advertise on the streaming channel.
TravelMi.tv initially launched in November 2020. It features 24/7 playback in high-traffic lobby areas of welcome centers throughout the state. Each broadcast display provides information on local weather, traffic, and travel destinations, including live camera streams provided by technology partner WMVision and its affiliates from cameras broadcasting throughout the state. The broadcast is also available on mobile devices in a streaming format on the web at travelmi.tv as well as on Roku and FireTV.

The service is provided to the public free of charge and at no cost to the state of Michigan. Initially, it began with a pilot program at welcome centers in Clare, New Buffalo, and Coldwater beginning in early November 2020. The other 11 welcome centers launched its broadcasts in April 2021.
Businesses interested in being featured on TravelMi.tv may contact Dan Sippel at the West Michigan Tourist Association at Dan@WMTA.org or (616) 245-2217, extension 102.
