Exhibition of Food, Dance and Drama in Dallas. Texas Celebrates Yoruba Cultural Heritage
DALLAS - EntSun -- The Yoruba people, normally domiciled on the West coast of Africa, are known for their unique and irrepressible culture, which in the last 200 years survived slavery and colonial domination and has given the world such unique cultural artifacts as the talking drum, "egungun" masks, modern fashion like "adire" and "aso-oke," and distinctive food offerings such as "moinmoin". The annual YorubaFest in Dallas, Texas, is organized by the non-profit Yoruba Cultural Center Dallas Inc, to highlight and promote the arts, music, and culture of the great Yoruba people. This year's two-day event, to be launched by Mayor Eric Lynn Johnson of Dallas on Saturday August 13, 2022, enjoys the royal patronage of the worldwide custodian of Yoruba culture and heritage, His Royal Highness Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II. The Ooni of Ife's delegation will include eminent Yoruba royalty and chieftains. This festival - a combination of outdoor and indoor activities - will center around the Yoruba Art and Heritage Museum on 7111 Marvin D Love Freeway, Suite 209, Dallas, Texas 75237.
