Laser Hair Removal in Thornhill

EntSun News/10778974
THORNHILL, Ontario - EntSun -- With the advancement in technology, we are seeing a proportional increase in the ability to administer better and more efficient aging and beauty treatments worldwide. In the past, majority turned to waxing, tweezing, shaving, and hair removal creams to remove unwanted hair; all temporary measures, and some with painful and inefficient side-effects, resulting in no real admirable alternative. That is, until modern laser hair removal machines came into the market, forever changing the way women and men perceive their hair removal options. At the Art of Facial Rejuvenation, we use the most modern and virtually painless device, Soprano XL to remove unwanted hair in a series of treatments.

Laser Hair Removal works by emitting energy photons directly to the hair follicles, whereby, damaging and destroying the hair follicles via heat administered to the area, but not damaging the epidermis or surrounding area. Our medical professionals apply a gel over the target area and subsequently administer a series of continuous laser beams (of a specified wavelength) to inhibit future hair growth.

While laser hair removal is effective in reducing the amount of active hair follicles, permanent hair reduction is not guaranteed and results may vary depending on the individual.  However, impressive results are seen (70-90% hair reduction) in individuals who come in continuously for a series of 6-8 sessions. The reason for this is that laser hair removal targets hair follicles in their active (anagen phase) and each session is designed to target the subsequent anagen phase, requiring each session to be 5-6 weeks apart for maximum results. Patients will notice hair growing, but these are no longer active hair cells, and the root is pushing the damaged hair out; in fact, the hair can be removed from its root with minimal resistance.

Best Candidates

The best candidates for laser hair removal are individuals with lighter skin and darker hair follicles because that specific property allows for best absorption of light photons. The beams of light require skin and hair contrast; however, our medical professionals can tailor the treatment for individuals of a darker skin types. It is generally recommended that individuals come in for an initial complementary consult for a patch test and attain a thorough assessment of expectations and results with laser hair removal.

Length of Treatment

The length of a laser hair removal treatment depends entirely on the surface area of the skin in need of treatment. Full body laser hair removal generally takes 1 hour per session, whereas, other selected body parts take less time. Small zones, like certain areas of the face and armpits can take up to 10 minutes or so. It is generally recommended that patients anticipate at least 30 minutes for each session of treatment.

Overview of a typical Laser Session

On the first complementary consult session, one of our medical professionals will administer a patch test – where a small area of your skin is tested with the laser to ensure that no reaction or unprecedented side effect occurs. On the first day of treatment, patients must cleanly shave the areas of their body receiving laser treatment and it is recommended that patients do not overly expose themselves to too much sunlight or undergo tanning. Before your laser treatment session, patients are recommended not to wax, pluck or thread any part of their hair receiving treatment for 3 weeks, so that the root of the hair remains to receive laser beams. Some individuals may experience a pricking sensation in the more sensitive areas, or a sensation of heat; however, with our method of treatment, patients generally experience minimal pain.
