Klorane Botanical Foundation + KidsGardening.org Announce Winners of 2019 Budding Botanist Grant
EntSun News/10772035
Six Winning Schools to Hold Celebratory Award Events April 24-May 23, 2019
NEW YORK - April 8, 2019 - EntSun -- .Dedicated to supporting global initiatives to protect the plant universe and biodiversity, Klorane Botanical Foundation, Klorane's corporate foundation, and national nonprofit KidsGardening, leader in the school gardening movement, are proud to announce the winners of the second annual Budding Botanist Grant. Designed to advance the Foundation's mission to share its botanical passion with future generations, the 2019 Grant is sponsored by Klorane Botanical Foundation with a percentage of profits provided by Klorane.
The Budding Botanist Grant Program awarded six grant packages valued at $3000 each in cash and supplies to school educators within low-income schools to provide much-needed resources for creating important learning gardens with their students. Impact reports conducted by KidsGardening reveal that kids who garden show an 86% increase in environmental stewardship.
"The Budding Botanist Grant provides our youngest citizens with the opportunity to value their environment, explore the plant world, and inspires them to take care of the life they discover in their local ecosystems," says KidsGardening Executive Director Helen Rortvedt. "At a time when most children can identify up to 200 logos but are unable to identify plants in their own backyard, garden programs like this are more important than ever."
