Jet Medical Tourism® Cites Report Saying Bariatric Surgery Works, But Millions of Eligible Patients in The Heaviest American States Cannot Get It
EntSun News/10824064
SAN DIEGO - EntSun -- There are over 37% severely obese adults in Mississippi and 26% in Montana, and still both of these states don't provide insurance coverage for bariatric surgeries.
The recent study published by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) indicates that more than 760,000 morbidly obese patients in these two states are unable to receive weight loss surgeries, even though they are eligible for it.
Experts said that sleeve gastrectomy, one of the most popular weight loss procedures, costs around $20,000 - $35,000 in the US without insurance. The surgery cuts the stomach down to about a size of a small 'sleeve' or a banana, reduces the natural weight, and also lowers the hunger hormone levels significantly.
People who suffer from morbid obesity don't see the same results from dieting, exercising, and medication like others. There are several diseases, such as PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), which actually cause the person to gain weight, regardless of how healthy their lifestyle is.
Bariatric surgery has shown to be the most effective long-term solution for these patients. Weight loss procedures not only help the patient lose excess weight and get a desirable body shape, but they also considerably reduce the risk for several obesity-related diseases, including diabetes.

Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of these patients are unable to experience the benefits of bariatric surgeries because their insurance doesn't cover it. American surgeons say that insurance companies in the country treat bariatric surgeries more like a 'frivolous' treatment, and less like a life-saving option.
Medical Tourism Remains the Only Answer
In order to gain back their health, nearly 1 million obese patients travel to Mexico each year for receiving more affordable bariatric surgeries. A gastric sleeve procedure that costs $25,000 on average in the US, costs about $4,000 in Mexico, which makes it an attractive destination for medical tourism patients.
Even state employees from South Carolina, where more than 200,000 patients are eligible for weight-loss surgeries, are frequently crossing over to Mexico since their insurance doesn't cover bariatric procedures.
Obamacare enrollees in the most obese states in America, like Arkansas, also cannot undergo bariatric surgery due to exorbitant costs of the treatments. The doctors and surgeons in the states are forced to turn away hundreds of thousands of obese patients each year.

However, not all hope is lost, thanks to the close proximity of the US to the internationally-recognized medical haven, Mexico. Jet Medical Tourism® provides access to weight loss surgery in Mexico, private room stay, transportation facilities, and much more for less than $5,000 in Mexico.
