Georgia's Lanier Islands Resort Shows Big Love for the Community with Final Concert for a Cause

EntSun News/11100674
BUFORD, Ga. - EntSun -- Big Love is not only one of Fleetwood Mac's greatest hits, but it's also the driving force behind Lanier Islands Resort's Concerts for a Cause series. On Sunday, September 6 of the long Labor Day Weekend, the premier Fleetwood Mac tribute band – Rumours ATL – will close out the series while raising funds for two Georgia nonprofits that hold special meaning to the lakeside destination. Proceeds from every $15 ticket sold will directly benefit the Georgia Mountain Food Bank and Lake Lanier Association (LLA). Hosted at the waterfront Peachtree Pointe Amphitheater, gates open at 6pm, and the concert begins at 7:30pm.

"Our Concerts for a Cause series has been a wonderful way to show our love for the community that continually shows up for us while supporting two nonprofits that are central to who we are," said Matthew Bowling, President of Lanier Islands Resort. "We've enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Georgia Mountain Food Bank, and we're grateful for the important work they do to support families in need throughout our community. We also share an enduring history with the Lake Lanier Association, whose work to keep Lake Lanier clean, full and safe benefits our entire community and the millions of people who enjoy the lake each year. These concerts give our guests a chance to enjoy great music for an even greater purpose."

The first two Concerts for a Cause, held in July and August, have already raised $7,500 for the Lake Lanier Association, with much of those funds supporting its annual Shore Sweep on September 19. Funds raised for the Georgia Mountain Food Bank will provide an estimated 37,500 meals for food-insecure individuals and families. The best part? One more concert remains, and the final performance is expected to add significantly to the total.

"The Concerts for a Cause series is a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together for something bigger than itself," said Phil Dennis, Development Director for Georgia Mountain Food Bank. "Saturday's concert with The Long Run brought together a tremendous crowd to enjoy great music on a beautiful evening, but it demonstrated something even more meaningful—the people of North Georgia care about their neighbors. More than just an evening of great entertainment, a portion of every ticket benefits the Georgia Mountain Food Bank and provides just over 12 meals for families in our community. We are deeply grateful to Lanier Islands for their generosity and to everyone who has supported the concert series. Together, we are helping ensure that no family in our community goes hungry."

Victoria Clevenger, Executive Director for the Lake Lanier Association, echoed Dennis' sentiments: "Saturday's concert was a beautiful night at Lanier Islands, the emerald waters making for a picture-perfect backdrop – and a simple reminder of why the work of the LLA is so vital. Without efforts like Shore Sweep, our annual shoreline cleanup engaging 1,200 volunteers and annually removing 90+ tons of trash, monthly water quality testing, and multiple safety efforts – Lake Lanier wouldn't be the beautiful resource for recreation and drinking water that we all know it to be.  Lanier Islands is a leader in community engagement, and we're grateful for the platform to bring more individuals into the LLA mission – it's truly remarkable what we can accomplish together."

Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.lanierislands.com/special-events/concerts-for-a-cause/.  Children 5 and under will be admitted for free with a paying adult. With each $15 ticket, concertgoers will receive free gate entry to the resort on the day of the concert. Concertgoers are encouraged to book an overnight stay and turn the concert into a Labor Day weekend getaway, complete with a poolside cookoff Saturday afternoon, fireworks over the lake Saturday night courtesy of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, and Rumours ATL live at Peachtree Pointe on Sunday evening.
