Filmmakers Compete for Fame, Glory (and Cash) at the streaming IndieBoom Festival
EntSun News/10760535
Part streaming platform, part social media competition: the IndieBOOM! Festival lets the audience decide who wins, and rewards filmmakers with more fans, promotion and prizes. Streaming free online at indieboomfest.com and Roku, 12/20/18 to 1/5/19.
NEW YORK - Dec. 11, 2018 - EntSun -- IndieBOOM! reinvents the film festival for today's media landscape, harnessing the viral buzz of a social media contest to introduce original media to viewers with an endless appetite for free content. It's an original concept from the creators of the award-winning Art of Brooklyn Film Festival (aobff.org)
Industry pros curate the international short films — then the game begins! Every video view is a vote; filmmakers promote their own IndieBOOM! page via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to rack up site visits and viewing stats. The film with the most views in each category wins a laurel, and the most-viewed film of the festival receives a $500 cash prize.

The festival streams worldwide, online and on "BKOD," a free Roku channel with over 17K subscribers. The festival dates of 12/20 - 1/5 were chosen because the time between Christmas and New Year is the top period for streaming. There are no annoying log-ins or passwords needed to view the films. It's simple, fun — and free!
Official Website: http://indieboomff.com
"When we created IndieBOOM!, we looked at how people interact with indie media now," said Anthony DeVito, co-creator of the concept. "Creators everywhere are making groundbreaking work that's changing the rules. How audiences and industry discover that work is also changing. People watch on tablets, computers, phones and streaming devices. A large fanbase helps indie filmmakers skip to the head of the line with funders and industry, and IndieBOOM! is set up to maximize exposure and visibility for these emerging creators."
After festival voting ends, IndieBOOM films continue to stream free year round, which means more exposure for the filmmakers and festival partners. We love it when everybody wins!
