Dorian Wind Quintet returns to Thiel College's Con Spirito

The quintet performed at the first Thiel College Con Spirito concert in 2007 and will perform its fourth concert on March 21.
GREENVILLE, Pa. - March 13, 2019 - EntSun -- Thiel College presents the Dorian Wind Quintet in concert at the David Johnson Memorial Chapel at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 21. This event is free and open to the public.
The Dorian Wind Quintet is recognized worldwide by critics, audiences and its fellow musicians for unique, polished and passionate performances of classical and modern chamber music for wind instruments. The quintet has been called "extraordinary" in The New York Times and "breathtaking" in The London Times. The Los Angeles Times said in a review that the quintet performs, "Chamber music as it was meant to be." Along with its stop in Greenville, the quintet's 2019 tour schedule also includes performances in New York City, California and China.
First formed at Tanglewood in 1961, the quintet has performed everything from baroque masterpieces to Pulitzer Prize-winning commissions in concert halls around the world. In fact, the Dorian Wind Quintet is the first wind quintet to appear at Carnegie Hall. The quintet has served as the resident ensemble for several institutions, including the Mannes College of Music, Brooklyn College, Hunter College in New York City and the Festival Institute of Round Top.

This the fourth appearance of the Dorian Wind Quintet at Thiel College (https://www.thiel.edu/). The quintet performed at the first Con Spirito concert in 2007. They also performed at Thiel College in 2011 and 2015. The quintet has traveled around the world—playing in 48 of the 50 United States and Canada, touring Europe 18 times and making stops throughout the Middle East, India, Africa and Asia.
