MIAMI - EntSun -- MIAMI, FL – Director Gonzalo Mejía debuts with his first feature film titled "Por La Vida", selected to compete in the "Made in Miami" category of the prestigious Miami Film Festival in its 43rd edition.
The bilingual comedy-drama will have its world premiere on Sunday, April 12 at 5:30 PM at the Olympia Theater, marking a milestone for the director at one of the most influential festivals in the United States.
A STORY OF SECOND CHANCES
"Por La Vida" is an 87-minute film that explores family reconciliation through the story of Gerónimo, a former corporate executive who has left his business career to pursue his true passion: baking. His plans take a 180-degree turn when his daughter, Clarissa, appears at his doorstep with the police and a house arrest order. This forced coexistence between father and daughter becomes a journey full of conflict, humor, discovery, and the search for a second chance to rebuild broken bonds.

Filmed in English and Spanish with on-screen subtitles, this independent production is the result of a collaboration that began in Miami and crossed borders, uniting professionals from Mexico (editing and sound), Los Angeles (soundtrack), and Ecuador (special effects).
The cast is led by prominent Argentine actor David Chocarro, known for his roles in "100 días para enamorarnos", "El Recluso", and "Mi verdad Oculta", alongside young Cuban-American actress Eleny Reyes (24 years old), who makes a highly distinguished feature film debut.
A DIRECTOR WITH AN INTERNATIONAL TRAJECTORY
Gonzalo Mejía holds a Master of Fine Arts in Motion Pictures from the University of Miami and has more than two decades of experience in audiovisual content creation. His career includes internationally award-winning short films, such as "Las Llaves, el Gato y un Pez Negro", which earned five awards, including Best Foreign Language Film at the Orlando Film Festival.

As director and leader of his production company, Bananas Films, his experience extends to producing documentaries, commercial content, and television programs with Emmy Award nominations.
