Colorado: Governor Polis Appoints V. William Scarpato, III to the 2nd Judicial District Court

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis appointed V. William Scarpato, III to the 2nd Judicial District Court. The vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Bruce A. Jones and is effective January 13, 2027.

Mr. Scarpato is Senior Litigation Counsel and an Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado, positions he has held since 2025 and 2020, respectively. His practice consists primarily of civil litigation. Previously, he was an Associate Attorney at Wheeler Trigg O'Donnell LLP (2017-2020); Associate Attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP (2015-2017); and Law Clerk to the Honorable Harvey Bartle III of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (2013-2015). Mr. Scarpato earned his B.A. from Pomona College in 2008 and his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2013.
