City Council invites community engagement: Volunteer for Colorado Springs Boards, Commissions, and Committees

~ Colorado Springs City Council is seeking passionate individuals to join various Boards, Commissions, and Committees in order to shape the future of the city. These volunteer positions are essential for the growth and development of the vibrant community.
One such opportunity is with the Airport Advisory Commission, which addresses matters related to the Colorado Springs Airport. This includes land use, construction, planning, and operation. The Commission also provides advice on the Airport Master Plan and its implementation. In addition, they may act as an advisory body to the El Paso County Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners. Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 3:00 p.m., with vacancies available for alternate members.
Another important role is with the City Auditor's Office, where volunteers will assist in advising City Council on fiscal matters and other issues. They may also provide direct assistance in approving decisions made by City Council. Meetings take place on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 12:00 p.m., with vacancies for alternate members.

The Independent Ethics Commission (IEC) is responsible for reviewing complaints and inquiries related to the City Code of Ethics. This includes elected officials, administrative officers, municipal court judges, and members of boards or committees appointed by City Council or other city officials. Meetings are held as needed and there are currently vacancies for alternate members.
The Initiative Review Committee plays a crucial role in reviewing and offering advisory opinions on initiated municipal election issues. Meetings occur as needed and there are openings for alternate members.
For those interested in downtown development, there is an opportunity to join the Downtown Review Board. Members meet monthly to review applications using the Downtown Colorado Springs Form-Based Code regulating plan. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the Downtown Form-Based Zone Boundaries before applying. The board currently has a vacancy for one voting member who is a Downtown Form-Based Zone Property Owner.

Meetings are held quarterly on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 2:00 p.m., with a vacancy for one voting member who owns and resides in a single-family residence within the city limits.
