MOXIE Theatre Announces The Cast and Creative Team of This Is Government
EntSun News/11100879
SAN DIEGO - EntSun -- MOXIE Theatre celebrates season 22 with the production, This Is Government by playwright Nina Kissinger. This dark, comedic play, directed by Desireé Clark Miller, runs from September 27 – October 25 at MOXIE Theatre.
MOXIE Theatre starts its new season with This Is Government, a darkly comedic play by Nina Kissinger that traps three interns in a cramped government office amid a bomb threat and a high-stakes health care vote. As a moderate representative holds the vote hostage, the interns are forced to confront the human cost of political gamesmanship—and the complicated question of whether real change is possible from within the system. Sharp, timely and irreverent, the play finds humor in the absurdity of crisis while taking aim at the leaders who treat people's lives like political currency. In This Is Government, sometimes the most dangerous situations are the ones that can't be defused.

"This Is Government asks us to look closely at how government works, who has a voice in it, and how the choices we make as citizens can shape the world around us," says director Desireé Clark Miller. "There's something especially important about telling this story right now, as we head into the midterm elections. The play invites audiences to think beyond the act of casting a ballot and to question what it means to participate, to pay attention, and to understand the power and responsibility we all have in shaping our government."
The cast features Kailey Madoka Agpaoa as Kaz, Katie MacNichol as Stevie, Ben McClaren as Tip and Becca Myers as Emi.
Under the direction of Desireé Clark Miller, the creative team for MOXIE's production of This Is Government includes Tiffany Arita, Lighting Designer; Heather Larsen, Scenic Designer; Kendall Northrop, Props Designer; Sabrina Soto, Costume Designer; Zoe Yahrling, Sound Designer; Jennifer Busch, Assistant Director; and Madison Mercado, Stage Manager.
