~ Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has announced a thrilling opportunity for residents and visitors to come together and support Team USA in their upcoming FIFA World Cup match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The free, family-friendly watch party will take place at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway on Wednesday, July 1st.
With a heat wave expected to hit the region this week, the event offers a perfect way for fans to stay cool while cheering on their favorite team. However, due to limited capacity, attendees must register in advance online.
Mayor Wu expressed her excitement for the event, stating that "sports bring us together as one big community, no matter where we live or who we root for." She also acknowledged the incredible momentum created by fans from all over the world and thanked partners at Boston Red Sox and Crossroads Presents for providing a safe and welcoming space for fans to enjoy the game with family and friends.

This watch party is just one of many efforts by Mayor Wu to host free, community-based events for everyone to enjoy during the World Cup festivities. So far, four community watch parties have been held in Boston's neighborhoods for matches such as Spain vs. Cabo Verde and Brazil vs. Haiti.
City Councilor Sharon Durkan also expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming watch party at Fenway's MGM Music Hall, stating that "the energy and economic vitality the World Cup has brought to Boston have been absolutely unmatched." She added that there is nothing quite like celebrating these historic moments surrounded by the passion and spirit of Boston fans.
In addition to this watch party, three more are scheduled for the semifinals and final in July. The City is also working on organizing more events in support of Team USA.
For those unable to attend this particular watch party, the City has compiled a list of other free watch parties happening across Boston during the knockout stage matches. More information on locations can be found on boston.gov/watchparties.
As the World Cup continues to captivate audiences around the globe, Boston is proud to be a host city and is dedicated to providing opportunities for residents and visitors to come together and celebrate this exciting event.
