~ As summer heats up, Boston residents are encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities available to support their physical, mental, and social well-being. With a focus on outdoor health and fitness, as well as community engagement, there is something for everyone to enjoy this July.
The Boston Parks and Recreation department has released their summer guide, which includes a variety of free community activities such as sports, arts and crafts, and fitness classes. One highlight is the Fitness Series, a free exercise program open to all with both virtual and in-person options available until the end of August.
For those looking for educational and community programming, the Boston Public Library offers a regularly updated events calendar. They also have a health and wellness page with resources on nutrition, self-care, and related events.
The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy is also offering a calendar of free fitness and community events throughout the summer. These events take place along the Greenway and provide an opportunity for residents to stay active while enjoying the outdoors.

As Independence Day approaches, Boston Harborfest will be running from July 2nd to July 4th. This celebration includes historical reenactments, live music, art markets, and fireworks in downtown Boston. The annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will also take place on July 4th at the Charles River Esplanade.
Eastie Week is another exciting event happening this month. This two-week celebration of the East Boston community features cultural events such as free kayaking with the NOAH Community Kayak Program, concerts at Piers Park by ZUMIX Summer Concert Series, a street concert by the Boston Lyric Opera, neighborhood potlucks, community runs, farm volunteering opportunities, and more.
Shakespeare on the Common is celebrating its 30th year of providing free outdoor theatre performances. From July 22nd to August 9th at 8pm on the common, residents can enjoy regular performances completely free of charge.
