The Council for Community Accessibility is a volunteer group that works closely with the City to improve access to public spaces and services while also gathering community input. Established in 1990 to advise the City of Bloomington on implementing the ADA - which became federal law that year - the Council continues to support programs that benefit residents with disabilities.
The ADA is a civil rights law that guarantees equal access to employment opportunities, education, public spaces, and services open to the public for people with disabilities. This year's celebration will not only commemorate its 36th anniversary but also serve as a reminder of its importance in creating an inclusive society.
