Deafies in Drag show and post-event gathering raises funds for Sally J. Pimentel Deaf & Hard of Hearing Center work in the community
FORT MYERS, Fla. - EntSun -- The challenges and triumphs of deaf culture were the subject of a comedy performance by Selena Minogue and Casavina, two drag queens who make up the deaf duo Deafies in Drag, at an event Jan. 11 in Fort Myers.
Portraits of program participants donated by photographer Brian Tietz were on display at the fundraiser at the Collaboratory. A post-event gathering was hosted by Millennial Brewing.
The Sally J. Pimentel Deaf & Hard of Hearing Center provides a wide range of services to the deaf and hard of hearing community, including education, advocacy and community involvement in Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, Glades and DeSoto counties. The event raised $5,100 for center programming.
Sponsors of the event were SVRS, Millennial Brewing Company, Glory Days Grill, Wildlife Task Force, Edison National Bank, Studio+, Sanibel-Captiva Community Bank, Jessica Harris Interpreting Services Inc., All Heart Entertainment, Kelly Tawley, Brittany Carroll and Carolyn Dahlman Writes.

Founded in 1983 as The Deaf Service Center, the Sally J.
