Umbrella Invention Enhances Crosswalk Safety
EntSun News/10778930
Launched in February, company sees North American wide growth
NEWMARKET, Ontario - EntSun -- With the US Governors Highway Safety Association highlighting 2018 as having the highest number of pedestrian fatalities in three decades, a crosswalk safety umbrella invention has proven to be hit with North American consumers.
LifeLight Umbrella markets itself as the world's first collapsible umbrella built exclusively to reduce pedestrian vehicle collisions.
"There is no question our umbrella can prevents injuries and save countless lives particularly during wet, low lighting conditions," says John Vickers, company president.
Among the umbrella's unique features is a bright flashing LED light on the roof of the canopy and two layers of high visibility light reflective trim designed to alert drivers of a pedestrian's presence from up to 500 feet/140 meters away at 30mph/50km speeds.
In addition, the umbrella has a built-in LED flashlight handle designed to light up a person's lower extremities and the ground in front of them. In non-precipitation conditions, the umbrella can fold down and be carried as a flashing light stick.

Vickers says over 50% of North American sales involve the purchase of more than one umbrella. "In addition to acquiring crosswalk protection for themselves, we find most purchasers are also thinking about others, whether family members, friends and associates."
In addition to its life safety features, LifeLight Umbrella incorporates additional technologies which include a wind venting system to prevent the umbrella collapsing on blustery days. It also features "technology pocket" under the canopy designed to fit most common Bluetooth trackers. A tracker has the ability to inform users via their mobile phones they have left their umbrella behind at a premise.
Vickers says feedback on LifeLight Umbrella from early users in both the USA and Canada has been extremely positive and he has received distribution inquiries from around the globe.
