The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre Celebrates 90 Years of Magic
Marietta, GA – September 10, 2025 – This September, The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre proudly marks its 90th anniversary on September 24, celebrating nine decades of laughter, music, storytelling, and community. Since 1935, The Strand has become a cherished landmark on the corner of Marietta Square, evolving from a glamorous movie palace into a dynamic performing arts center, hosting over 200 events annually.
To honor this milestone, The Strand will host a weeklong celebration from September 23-28, 2025. The festivities will feature performances, film screenings, and community events, all designed to evoke treasured memories and inspire future generations. Tickets range from $5 to $80, with group discounts available.
"Reaching our 90th anniversary is a celebration of the past and a commitment to the future," said Manda Costoulas, Operations Director of The Strand. "Every performance, audience member, and partner has shaped The Strand into what it is today, and this milestone allows us to honor that collective journey."

A highlight of the celebration will be Cobb Idol, the theatre's signature benefit concert, where singers from across Cobb County will compete to be named this year's Cobb Idol. Tickets are priced at $19.35 to reflect the year The Strand opened its doors. The event runs approximately two hours, including intermission, with the lobby opening at 6:30 PM, seating at 7:00 PM, and the performance starting at 7:30 PM.

- September 24: Movie Events: Top Hat (1935), The Great Locomotive Chase (1956)
- September 26: Movie Events: Frozen Sing-Along (2013), Three Faces of Eve (1957)

- September 25: Live Event: Cobb Idol Benefit Concert: Legendary Duets
- September 27: Live Event: Mamma Mania: NYC's ABBA Tribute Concert
