The Family Legacy Behind Jon Robert Quinn's Media Career
EntSun News/11095878
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. - EntSun -- Success rarely happens by accident. For author and entrepreneur Jon Robert Quinn, the foundation for a career spanning more than 25 years in media, broadcasting, music and publishing was built long before his first film or radio show.
Quinn credits much of that foundation to a family whose passions ranged from championship motorsports to professional music and high-fidelity audio.
On his mother's side, Quinn's great-uncles, Nick and Frank Sanborn, became well-known names in the history of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Nick Sanborn earned five class victories during his racing career before later serving as President and CEO of the legendary event and helping establish the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Museum.
Music played an equally important role.
Quinn's mother studied guitar under legendary jazz guitarist Johnny Smith, whose innovative playing influenced generations of musicians. Inspired by music from an early age, Quinn began piano lessons at six years old before picking up the guitar at fourteen and eventually becoming a professional guitarist, producer and recording artist.

Technology was another family tradition.
"My father and grandfather were both audiophiles," Quinn said. "I grew up around speakers, amplifiers and turntables. They taught me to appreciate not just music, but the quality of sound itself."
That curiosity led Quinn to build his first working recording studio at just fourteen years old, teaching himself audio engineering and music production years before digital recording became the industry standard.
Some of his most memorable lessons, however, came outside the studio.
"My mother taught me how to drive," Quinn recalls. "She took me up to Pinnacles National Monument on these narrow mountain roads with cliffs, switchbacks and blind corners. She handed me the keys and said, 'Drive.' Then she told me, 'Don't brake into the corner. Slow down before you get there, then accelerate out of the turn.'"
Years later, Quinn says he realized it wasn't just driving advice.
"I've carried that lesson through my entire career. Prepare before the challenge arrives, commit when it's time to act, and accelerate toward the opportunity instead of hesitating."

Today, Quinn's work includes more than forty published books, feature films, nationally syndicated radio programming, Impact & Influence Magazine, and the development of the Awepra business platform.
"When I look back," Quinn said, "I didn't grow up around people chasing fame. I grew up around people who cared about doing things exceptionally well. Whether it was racing up Pikes Peak, mastering a guitar, or perfecting the sound of a stereo system, excellence was always in the details."
For Quinn, those early influences continue to shape every project he undertakes, proving that the road to success often begins long before a career officially starts.
