~ At the 35th Annual Texas Gang Investigators Association (TGIA) Conference, Governor Greg Abbott delivered a powerful speech and participated in an awards ceremony to honor outstanding law enforcement professionals. The event, held on Tuesday, recognized the hard work and dedication of these individuals in keeping communities safe from criminal gang activity.
In his remarks, Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude on behalf of all Texans for the tireless efforts of law enforcement officers who often go unrecognized. He acknowledged that their work is crucial in protecting citizens from danger and emphasized the importance of being relentless in the pursuit of gangs across the state.
The Governor also highlighted the significant steps that Texas has taken to combat gang activity and hold repeat offenders accountable. He specifically mentioned the establishment of ten Texas Anti-Gang Centers, which promote collaboration among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and prosecutors' offices. Additionally, he praised the landmark bail reform package he signed into law as the strongest in Texas history, which aims to keep dangerous criminals off the streets.
