Texas: Governor Abbott Announces Latest Slate Of Appointments

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has made several appointments to various positions in the state of Texas. These individuals have been chosen for their qualifications and dedication to serving the people of Texas.

One of the appointments made by Governor Abbott is that of Cullen Cook as District Attorney for the 69th Judicial District. Cook will serve in this role for Dallam, Hartley, Moore, and Sherman Counties until December 31, 2028, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

In addition to this appointment, Governor Abbott has also reappointed John Mason, Marcela Navarette, and Keith Wall to the One-Call Board of Texas. He has also appointed Michael Holdman and Michael McCloskey to the board for terms set to expire in 2029 and 2027 respectively. The One-Call Board of Texas oversees the "Call Before You Dig" system which helps prevent accidents by notifying underground facility operators of excavation plans.

Furthermore, Governor Abbott has appointed Jan Lacina, Ph.D., Jennifer Vincent, and Jennifer Warren, Ed.D. to the Texas Early Learning Council. This council serves as Texas' State Advisory Council as required by the Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007. Their role is to increase coordination and collaboration among state agencies and local program providers in order to improve early childhood services across Texas.
