Texas: Governor Abbott Announces Latest Slate Of Appointments

~ Governor Greg Abbott has made several appointments this week, selecting qualified individuals to serve on behalf of the people of Texas. These appointments include reappointments to the Crime Victims' Institute Advisory Council and the Presiding Judge of the Eighth Administrative Judicial Region, as well as a new appointment to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct.
For the Crime Victims' Institute Advisory Council, Governor Abbott has reappointed Heather Ayala, Melissa Carter, Hillary England, Matthew L. Ferrara, Ph.D., Forrest Mitchell, Jeffery "JD" Robertson, and David Schwartz. Their terms are set to expire on January 31, 2028. The Council is responsible for conducting a thorough analysis of how crime affects victims and their families, as well as society as a whole.
John Mason has been appointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the One-Call Board of Texas for a term that will end on August 31, 2026. This board oversees the "Call Before You Dig" system which notifies underground facility operators about excavation plans in order to prevent accidents involving pipelines and utility lines.

In addition to these appointments, Governor Abbott has also reappointed David L. Evans as Presiding Judge of the Eighth Administrative Judicial Region for a term that will expire four years from his qualification. This region covers several counties in Texas and is responsible for overseeing administrative matters within the judicial system.
Lastly, JJ Isbell has been appointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the State Commission on Judicial Conduct for a term that will end on December 31, 2027. The Commission is responsible for regulating the conduct of judges in the state and has the power to recommend retirement, censure, suspension or removal from office if necessary.
These appointments reflect Governor Abbott's commitment to ensuring qualified individuals are serving in important roles within Texas government.
