Tacoma: Applicants Sought for the Landmarks Preservation Commission

~ The Tacoma City Council is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill several positions on the Landmarks Preservation Commission. This commission is responsible for overseeing the establishment and regulation of landmarks, local historic districts, and certain property tax incentives within the city.
According to the press release, there are seven positions available on the commission, each with specific qualifications. Two positions are open to individuals who are currently or have been professionally certified architects. Another two positions are open to individuals with a demonstrated interest in historic preservation. The remaining three positions are open to individuals with professional experience or training in various disciplines related to historic preservation.

The City of Tacoma is committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity within its committees, boards, and commissions. As such, all individuals from diverse backgrounds, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+ individuals, individuals with disabilities, seniors, youth, immigrants, and refugees are encouraged to apply for these vacancies.
Applicants who are appointed will be required to complete trainings on the Open Public Meetings Act and Public Records Act provided by the Washington State Office of the Attorney General within 90 days of their appointment.
