Strangers in Space: A Prismatic Spectacular

PORTLAND, Ore. - EntSun -- The Imperfecta Gallery is proud to present Strangers in Space: A Prismatic Spectacular. On view December 3-26, 2026, this fine art exhibition presents work by Pop Surrealist artist Ten Yetman.

Ten Yetman spent the last year creating work that looks back in history, gathering obsessive details – from the lives and careers of past movie star icons like Peter O'toole and Oliver Reed, to Shakespearean plays such as Hamlet, to the infamous witch hunts and persecutions of the middle ages. As the artist explains: "I have taken fragments from many tales and transported them through space to distant planets in another dimension."

Yetman is interested in looking at how the passage of time changes how we perceive major events, fictional characters and public figures. Stories, mythology and acceptance of them develop and change in the public psyche. This is explored in her work by splicing facts and research with fiction from her imagination.

By placing characters in an unknown place and time in outer space, Ten Yetman propels the general public into a visual place that represents all forms and alterations on the story at hand. "My painted language is surreal and childlike, brimming with neon soaked treats for the eye and as ever, decorated with macabre daydreams," she explains.

The show debuts on December 3, with an Opening Reception from 5 to 8pm.

Gallery Opening Hours: Wednesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm – EXCEPT first Wednesdays (closed) and first Thursdays (open 5-8pm only).

The gallery is located at 809 NW Flanders st, Portland OR.

About the artist

After attending the Fine Arts Program at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg-native Ten Yetman spent many years living in Mexico and Japan teaching art classes and exhibiting her work. Heavily influenced by her experiences abroad, her pop-surrealist work explores cultural and historical expressions of death and immortality. Ten exhibited in galleries across Canada and the United States, including La Luz de Jesus Gallery, Helvella Art, Arch Enemy Arts, Poetic Tiger Gallery. She is Gallery Artist at Imperfecta Gallery.
