State Representative Chas Cannon Receives "Champion of Georgia's Cities Award"

MOULTRIE, Ga. - EntSun -- State Representative Chas Cannon received a 2026 "Champion of Georgia's Cities Award" from the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) in recognition of his support for Georgia's cities during the 2025–2026 session of the Georgia General Assembly. The award was presented during the Moultrie City Council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
The "Champion of Georgia's Cities Award" is presented at the end of each two-year legislative term to state legislators who have demonstrated strong support for major municipal initiatives and priorities.
During the 2025–2026 legislative term, Representative Cannon was a key voice on local government matters, sharing his expertise from experience in the area. In particular, Representative Cannon sponsored House Bill 244, revising the standards for local government audits while maintaining transparency. His work in the General Assembly helped advance issues important to cities and the residents they serve across Georgia.
GMA CEO and Executive Director Larry Hanson and Deputy Executive Director Jim Thornton presented the award to Representative Cannon on behalf of the association.
