About the Artist

Lee Mims was raised on a farm in Raleigh, North Carolina. She grew up living the open-air life connecting deeply with nature. It's in this blue-sky setting that Lee developed her lifelong love of animals, and became an outdoor enthusiast. Lee merged her love for the outdoors with science, and earned her Master's Degree in Geology, University of North Carolina. Mims studied under author-illustrator Bill Tilton, and plein-air master artists John Seerey-Lester and Heiner Hurtling.
