FREDERICK, Md. - EntSun -- Get ready for an unforgettable night of electrifying music as Scythian returns to the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 8:00 PM. This dynamic quartet delivers a barn-dance-meets-rock-concert experience that blends Celtic, Eastern European, and Appalachian traditions with unmatched energy and technical brilliance.
Tickets start at $25 and may be purchased online at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling the box office at 301-600-2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick Street. Discounts are available for students, children, military, and seniors.
Named after Ukrainian nomads, Scythian (sith-ee-yin) has earned a reputation for their thunderous performances and engaging storytelling. Their roots are steeped in diverse influences, with classically trained brothers Alexander (Vocals, Fiddle, Mandolin, Harmonica) and Danylo Fedoryka (Vocals, Guitar, Accordion) drawing inspiration from Ukrainian folk music and bluegrass. Ethan Dean (Vocals, Upright and Electric Bass, Percussion, Guitar) contributes a love of 60s and 70s folk-rock, while Johnny Rees (Vocals, Drums, Percussion), raised in Lafayette, LA, infuses a Cajun backbeat that adds yet another dynamic layer to the band's sound.
