Rust Foundation Announces Solana Foundation and NVIDIA as Platinum Members

MONTREAL - EntSun -- The Rust Foundation (https://rustfoundation.org), the independent nonprofit organization dedicated to stewarding and supporting the Rust programming language and its global community, today announced two new Platinum members: Solana Foundation (https://solana.org/), a non-profit dedicated to the decentralization, growth and security of Solana – the high performance network powering internet capital markets, payments, AI agents, and crypto applications, and NVIDIA (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/) the world leader in AI and accelerated computing. The announcements were made by Rust Foundation Executive Director & CEO Dr. Rebecca Rumbul during her opening remarks at RustConf 2026. Platinum membership is the Foundation's highest level available.

Dr. Rumbul said the following about Solana Foundation and NVIDIA joining as Platinum members:

"We're thrilled to welcome Solana Foundation and NVIDIA as Platinum members of the Rust Foundation. Solana is one of the most active, fastest-growing developer ecosystems built natively on Rust, and its investment, including years of support as a RustConf sponsor, reflects how deeply Rust is woven into its business. NVIDIA's commitment marks an equally important moment, as Rust plays a growing role in orchestrating the GPU-accelerated workloads at the heart of modern AI infrastructure. Platinum membership from organizations of this scale and stature strengthens the Rust Foundation's ability to invest in the language, its tooling, and the people who build with it."

Solana:

Rust is the dominant language for building on Solana, powering the vast majority of production programs on the network. As one of the most active and fastest-growing developer ecosystems built natively on Rust, Solana's support strengthens the Rust Foundation's ability to invest in the people and programs that keep Rust secure, sustainable, and thriving for the many industries, from blockchain to cloud infrastructure to AI, that now depend on it.

Jacob Creech, VP of Technology, Solana Foundation, said:

"Rust has been foundational to Solana from the beginning, giving developers the performance, safety, and reliability needed to build a high-throughput network and the many applications running on it. The Solana network is continually shipping upgrades and improvements, while its developer ecosystem and usage continue to expand across payments, decentralized finance, consumer applications, and emerging areas like AI. As the Solana ecosystem grows, investing in Rust and the broader Rust community is an investment in the infrastructure our developers depend on."

NVIDIA:

Rust is increasingly used across the systems layer of AI, including inference engines, serving infrastructure, drivers, and agent runtimes. As a Platinum member, NVIDIA is supporting that work, including efforts to enable developers to build accelerated applications natively in Rust.

About NVIDIA's Platinum membership, Ankit Patel, VP of Developer Ecosystem at NVIDIA, said:

"Rust is becoming foundational to AI software infrastructure, and its compile-time guarantees make it a natural fit for coding agents. NVIDIA is committed to enabling Rust developers to build across our entire CUDA platform, including CPUs to GPUs. Platinum membership is one part of that commitment, alongside dedicated engineering resources to work with the community on new and existing projects that developers already rely on."
