Piedmont Crossing Celebrates 40 Years of Caring, Community, and Connection

EntSun News/11102003
THOMASVILLE, N.C. - EntSun -- Piedmont Crossing is celebrating 40 years of serving older adults with a special anniversary event honoring four decades of community, compassionate care, meaningful relationships, and vibrant living.

Centered around the theme "There's No Place Like Piedmont Crossing," the milestone recognizes the community's rich history while looking ahead to continued growth and innovation.

Founded through the vision and support of local community leaders, donors, and the generous donation of land by Anise Shuler, Piedmont Crossing opened in 1987 as Davidson County's first retirement community. Today, the nonprofit continuing care retirement community spans more than 61 acres in Thomasville and offers independent living, assisted living, memory support, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing services.

"As we celebrate 40 years, we are grateful for the residents, employees, families, volunteers, and supporters who have made Piedmont Crossing such a special place," said Jan Purdy-Gray, Executive Director of Piedmont Crossing. "For four decades, our community has helped people create meaningful connections, pursue their passions, and enjoy peace of mind. That's what makes Piedmont Crossing feel like home."

The anniversary comes during a period of growth for the community. Earlier this year, Piedmont Crossing welcomed residents into seven newly constructed homes on Clarence Pierce Lane, expanding independent living options. Plans are underway for seven additional villas, further strengthening the community's commitment to meeting the growing demand for maintenance-free retirement living.

A special 40th Anniversary Celebration on October 1 will bring together residents, families, employees, board members, former staff, and community supporters for an afternoon of food, music, fellowship, and reflection on the people and moments that have shaped Piedmont Crossing over the past four decades.
