Once Upon a Child breaks the silence on miscarriage and offers solutions to grieving parents
EntSun News/10809093
WACO, Texas - EntSun -- "If you've ever sat in your OB/GYN's office grieving a miscarriage, you're not alone," says Dr. Roderick P. Diggs, III, an OB/GYN practicing in Houston, TX and a contributing writer in Once Upon a Child, by Kennisha Griffin.
Statistics say that 15-20% of recognized pregnancies result in a miscarriage. And now with the availability of ultra-sensitive pregnancy tests, that percentage increases to 60-70%. This means that most women have experienced at least one loss. In Once Upon a Child: Finding Grace after a Pregnancy Loss, author Kennisha Griffin breaks silence about what it means to walk through such a traumatic event. In her memoir, she walks readers through three different miscarriages and gives raw details about what helped her heal her broken heart.

"I wrote this memoir after I had three miscarriages," Griffin says. "I kept seeing so many women in my community suffer from miscarriages and child loss, and each of them came to me for some kind of help to get through it. It was the saddest season I encountered. I had to share my story to help shed truth about how painful this experience is. I wanted to offer words that could hug someone and help them know that they are not alone."
After Once Upon a Child was released, Kennisha experienced two more miscarriages-- one that included a second-trimester loss and landed her in the hospital.
"I had to refer to my own book for guidance through another season of loss. I learned that many times the lessons we learn from our past help us too."
Once Upon a Child is now available through online bookstores. Learn more about Kennisha Griffin and her books by visiting http://www.kennishagriffin.com.
