National Welding Supplies Wins Both Court Cases Over $20,000 Demand
EntSun News/11102455
WETHERILL PARK, Australia - EntSun -- National Welding Supplies Pty Ltd trading as National Welding & Industrial Supplies (NWS), is a Wetherill Park-based supplier of welding equipment and consumables, today announced that two separate legal proceedings filed against it by Michael Williams have both been dismissed by the courts.
The dispute arose from a July 2025 checkout issue that Williams used to purchase items at $0.00. Mr Williams was able to check out $15,000 worth of goods, paying only $256.86 in shipping. NWS's published Terms of Use stated at the time that $0-priced listings were not valid offers for sale and would not be fulfilled. NWS cancelled the order within 24 hours and issued a full refund before any goods were dispatched.
More than three months after receiving his refund, Mr Williams issued a demand for $9,500, and subsequently filed a Statement of Claim in the Local Court of NSW seeking $20,000 in damages.

On 22 May 2026, the Local Court of NSW (Case No. 2025/00457883) dismissed the Statement of Claim under UCPR rule 14.28 and also dismissed Mr Williams' related Notice of Motion.
On 3 August 2026, a second proceeding filed in the District Court of NSW (Case No. 2026/00239976) was dismissed under UCPR rules 12.7 and 13.6 for want of due despatch, after no appearance was made on the plaintiff's behalf.
"Mr Williams has wasted the court's time and taxpayers' money, and tried to threaten us for $20,000. I've had to personally defend my staff, myself, and our customers against him," said Mohamed Fazal, Director of National Welding Supplies. "We refunded him in full the day after the order was placed, before any goods were ever shipped. Two courts have now dismissed his claims, and we're pleased to put this behind us."
Copies of both official Notices of Orders Made, and further background on the case, are available on their website: https://www.nationalwelding.com.au/page/press-releases/national-welding-supplies-wins-both-court-cases-ov/
