It's Not About Color at All, But About Money! Even When You Are Making a Film About Racism It Has to Be Compelling Enough to Attract a Rainbow of Consumers, And Failing to Understand This Core Principle, Limits a Filmmaker Box Office Returns.
NEW YORK - EntSun -- There are a lot of films I would love to direct Moviegazoo 1.8 Billion Members to, but I must focus on my company returns and select the Artist and the Film that will allow me to Maximize Moviegazoo Investment. Each year we produce over 41,000 private events around the world, and we must know how each film we promote will play in a particular market. And sometimes you don't want to touch a film when it first comes out because it may not be on moviegoers' radar. The approach goes against people in Hollywood way of thinking but for us we don't have to rush out to see a film.
More than ever consumers must know what type of film they are watching. Not all movies play well in a theater, and sometime a consumer is really watching a made for tv film. And with Streaming becoming a part of the movie experience it creates another option that we have to consider. And this is where Moviegazoo AI comes into play. We are like fine wine; we can let a film age a little before directing ticket sales to a film in a host of different ways & markets at the same time. But when it comes to People of Color, and the term Underserved doesn't mean anything if the consumers within a circle of color doesn't support the content. And most of the time they don't, or they make a "US" type film that doesn't play well in international markets!
I tell people of color all the time what they are saying is not limited to dark skin consumers. No matter where you may live, come from you are a person of color. While Europeans have managed to separate themselves from the color rainbow all one has to do travel across the E.U. and you would be hard pressed to find a real white person! The term white that some people embrace doesn't make them white, black, brown or yellow.
So let me make this clear, there are no white, black, brown or yellow people on this planet! But there are too many people that willingly embraced color. And when you apply this way of thinking to a film, you are limiting your box office returns. As a person with the power to direct $100 million opening to any number of films I want, it took me 20 plus years to grow into the position. And I learned how to zero in on the Storyline; because that tells me the amount of money I can make; everything else is just a distraction.

For all the young filmmakers out there, go beyond color and make a film that people want to see! Take the time to write a great storyline that connects every person in the audience to the images they are seeing & words they hear. Don't give them a chance to think, force them to feel. Because that's when people are open, and able to exchange ideas about what they just saw... And always remember there's no such thing as a bad movie, just a movie that the right moviegoers haven't seen yet!
