EntSun News/11058597
~ Rochester, NY - As Mother's Day approaches, the city of Rochester is gearing up for a weekend full of exciting events for community members and families. The Rochester Public Market, located at 280 N. Union St., and International Plaza, at 828 North Clinton Ave., will be hosting a variety of activities to celebrate the special occasion.
One of the highlights of the weekend will be the return of Flower City Days at the Rochester Public Market. Starting this Sunday, May 11, market-goers can indulge in their love for gardening by browsing through hundreds of vendors offering great bargains on gardening essentials. From vibrant perennials and colorful annuals to hanging baskets and potted plants, there will be something for every type of gardener. In addition to plants, there will also be a wide assortment of succulents, herbs, and vegetables available for purchase.
For those in need of some expert advice on gardening, Master Gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County will be on hand to provide guidance and tips. Traditional Market vendors will also be present in the B shed, along with small businesses throughout the Market District.

But Flower City Days is not just about buying plants - it's also about giving back to the community. Outside the Market Office, there will be a give and take container exchange where gardeners can donate or retrieve gently used flower or plant pots, flats, and other containers. This initiative not only promotes sustainability but also encourages community involvement.
In addition to all these exciting offerings, this year's Flower City Days at the Market poster will feature artwork by local artist Julian Plum. Each year, Friends of the Public Market will showcase a different artist's work on their poster. Plum's warm and detailed gouache paintings inspired by nature are sure to catch everyone's eye.
The posters will be available for purchase at Market Shed A for $5 each. For every poster sold, $4 will go towards the Friends of the Public Market, supporting the Market Token Program for SNAP recipients, and $1 will go to the artist.
