Lincoln Calling partners with the Commonwealth for digital execution amidst pandemic
LINCOLN, Neb. - EntSun -- The seventeenth year of Lincoln Calling, the music and arts festival historically hosted in downtown Lincoln, will look much different due to the coronavirus pandemic. When the event organizers decided to move all programming online, they partnered with the Commonwealth Media to tell multimedia stories of local music, art and culture.
"We started making podcasts over a year ago," says Nick Castner, co-creator and owner of the Commonwealth. "Most of the stories we tell are of changemakers within Lincoln's community. When the pandemic caused Lincoln Calling to go online, our team felt we were in a good position to help them make that transition."
The Commonwealth created three pieces of content that will air during the festival's stream on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The first episode is with Lincoln based rapper HAKIM, the festival headliner for Saturday night, who discusses his struggles developing Lincoln's hip hop scene while giving insight into the entrepreneurial activity that supports his creative career. The other two episodes feature Letura Idigima, owner of LNK Art Bus, and Jazari Kual, a political activist and media entrepreneur in Lincoln.

"This is the first time a Nebraska music festival is hosting all their content online," says Spencer Munson, Lincoln Calling's Executive Director. "Our entire team had fun creatively rethinking how we plan and organize such an event. We're ecstatic the Commonwealth was able to help us drive culture to both Lincoln and all of Nebraska."
The Commonwealth released their episode with HAKIM on Monday, Sept. 28th. Listen or watch the interview here. The other two episodes will premiere at Lincoln Calling.
