Mayor Whitmire Partners with Houston Dynamo & Dash to Provide 10,000 Free Tickets to 2026 Matches
EntSun News/11098094
~ Houston Mayor John Whitmire, along with the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash, have announced a new initiative to provide 10,000 complimentary tickets to first-time attendees during the second half of the 2026 season. This initiative aims to capitalize on the excitement surrounding this summer's FIFA World Cup and give families in Houston the opportunity to experience professional soccer in their own backyard.
The announcement was made during a news conference on July 23, where Mayor Whitmire expressed his enthusiasm for the sport and its potential impact on the city. "We know from being in the community that there are young people and families who might never be able to experience a professional soccer game," he said. "They saw it on TV during the FIFA World Cup, but how do we continue that excitement? It's good for Houston - not only to improve the quality of life, but it's good business."
The initiative will distribute thousands of tickets to Houstonians through community organizations, nonprofit partners, youth programs, and directly to those who have never attended a match before. Fans can claim their tickets online and will have access to matches throughout the remainder of the 2026 regular season. However, claimed tickets will not be able to be resold.

According to Jessica O'Neill, President of Business Operations for Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash, this initiative is a way to build upon the legacy of the World Cup by creating a new generation of soccer fans. "There is nothing like experiencing a match at Shell Energy Stadium for the first time," she said. "Thanks to this initiative, 10,000 people will have the opportunity to discover what makes Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash soccer so special."
This partnership between Mayor Whitmire's office and both teams reflects their shared commitment to ensuring that the impact of the World Cup extends beyond just hosting matches in Houston. They want to create lasting connections between fans and their hometown clubs.
As one of North America's leading soccer cities, Houston is continuously working towards making the sport more accessible and welcoming to all members of the community. This initiative is just one step in that direction.
For more information and to claim tickets, interested individuals can visit houstondynamofc.tixr.com/houston26. Media inquiries can be directed to Mary Benton, Chief Communications Officer for the Houston Mayor's Office, or David Wiese-Carl, Vice President of Communications and Corporate Affairs for Houston Dynamo FC, Houston Dash, and Shell Energy Stadium.
