Long Beach Parks to Offer Free Summer Food Service Program for Local Youth
EntSun News/11091879
Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) is once again offering the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Summer Food Service Program to provide free, nutritious meals to children in the community. This program, which has been in place since 1979, aims to ensure that youth ages 1 to 18 have access to well-balanced meals during the summer months.
Starting on June 15 and running through August 21, 2026, PRM will be offering the Summer Food Service Program at 23 park and library locations throughout Long Beach and Signal Hill. This ensures that children from all areas of the city have access to this valuable service. The operating times vary at each site, with select locations having different operating dates.
Participation in the program is simple - children can arrive at any participating location during designated times without needing to register beforehand. The lunches provided will consist of nutritious options such as milk, juice, fruits, and vegetables. However, it is important to note that these lunches must be consumed on-site at designated eating areas and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
