Kaleb Joseph helps athletes of all ages build self-awareness and a sense of identity that can carry them through adversities. Interviewed by Winn Claybaugh, this former basketball player shares powerful truths about mental well-being.

RIVERDALE, Utah - EntSun -- Kaleb Joseph is no stranger to adversity. Raised in a dysfunctional household, he turned to basketball as an escape. His hard work paid off when he received his first Division 1 scholarship offer as an eighth grader, eventually becoming one of the top ten point guard recruits in the country. As the projected college basketball freshman of the year, Kaleb faced overwhelming pressure and expectations. After Sports Illustrated named him one of the top 10 most disappointing players after his freshman season, he became paralyzed by anxiety and afraid to show his face on campus. He sought relief in unhealthy coping mechanisms, ultimately leading to an addiction. After hitting rock bottom, Kaleb was aided by the help of two former NBA players in recovery who knew the struggles ahead in pursuit of turning his pain into purpose.
