Juneau Pools offers summer certification courses for lifeguards and swim instructors
EntSun News/11058517
~ Juneau Pools, a popular aquatic center in the city, is offering two certification courses this spring for individuals interested in working in aquatics. The courses, Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification and American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, will be hosted at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center and provide participants with nationally recognized credentials. What's more, these courses are free for those who apply for employment with Juneau Pools.
The Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification Course will take place from Monday to Friday, June 2-6, with daily sessions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This course is designed to prepare individuals to teach Red Cross swim lessons and educate others on water safety. To be eligible for this course, participants must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class and must pass a pre-course swim test. This test includes demonstrating various swim strokes, floating or sculling for one minute, and treading water. Those interested in taking the test can schedule an appointment with Ellen Johnston at (907) 586-0839 ext. 4148.
It is important to note that full attendance at all sessions is mandatory in order to receive certification. Registration for this course is currently open and will close on Tuesday, May 27. However, space is limited to only six participants.
