Juneau: Out of Town? Here's How to Get a Ballot for the 2026 Municipal Election

~ The 2026 City and Borough of Juneau Municipal Election is currently underway and will continue until Tuesday, October 6 at 8 p.m. As the deadline approaches, the CBJ Municipal Clerk's Office has provided alternative options for voters who may be out of town or have not received their ballots in the mail.

One option is to request a temporary mailing address by filling out an application and submitting it to the CBJ Municipal Clerk's Office by Tuesday, September 29. This can be done in person at the office located at 155 Heritage Way, through mail at P.O. Box 33579, via fax at 907-586-4550, or through email.

Another option is to request an e-ballot, which can be delivered via email or fax. The application for an e-ballot must be submitted to the CBJ Municipal Clerk's Office by 5 p.m. Alaska Time on Monday, October 5. E-ballots must then be returned by email, fax, or through a secure online portal by 8 p.m. Alaska Time on Election Day, October 6. For those using USPS to return their e-ballots, they must be postmarked by October 6 and received by Monday, October 19.

For those who will be in Juneau before Election Day, there are two vote centers available for in-person voting: City Hall Assembly Chambers and Mendenhall Valley Public Library. The City Hall Assembly Chambers will be open from September 21 to October 5 on Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Mendenhall Valley Public Library will also have extended hours during this time period: Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., and on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
