Journalist and Retired Federal Investigator create unique News source In Montgomery, AL

WETUMPKA, Ala. - EntSun -- The Montgomery News is a part of the Audio Dice Network, a bilingual internet media outlet covering politics, business, public safety, health, crime, and much more. The Montgomery News will offer coverage in English and Spanish.

Sara MacNeil, a reporter who has worked in newsrooms in New Mexico, Louisiana and Alabama, and Felix A. Montelara, a retired OIG federal agent, met through a missing persons case. Montelara was translating for the family of a missing 17-year-old girl  and MacNeil was reporting on the case. The two followed the case from the beginning, narrowing down two suspects, who the Montgomery Police Department later identified independently and charged with the murder.

Montelara has an extensive background in law enforcement going back to when he was a covert operative for the Puerto Rico Police Department in the 1980s. He has worked at the local, state, and federal level of law enforcement. MacNeil has covered everything from murder trials to elections to landmark legislation, producing accountability journalism with an impact. She said she's excited to utilize new resources for investigative reporting and wants to focus on local news.
