Hypershift Launches Hypershift.labs to Operationalize AI in Complex Enterprise Environments

EntSun News/11091966
New initiative formalizes execution-focused AI and infrastructure work across regulated and operationally complex industries

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - EntSun -- The AI experimentation phase is ending. Enterprise organizations are now confronting the harder challenge: operationalizing AI inside complex real-world environments.

That's the premise behind Hypershift.labs, a new initiative launched by Hypershift focused on helping organizations modernize infrastructure, redesign operational workflows, and deploy AI systems that can operate reliably in production environments.

The launch comes as many organizations move beyond experimentation and begin confronting the operational realities of AI adoption: fragmented data, manual workflows, governance requirements, infrastructure limitations, and systems that were never designed to support AI at scale.

Rather than positioning itself as a traditional innovation lab, Hypershift.labs is focused on execution: the underlying systems, workflows, and operational foundations required to make AI usable inside actual business environments.

The initiative formalizes work Hypershift has already led across industries including energy, financial services, logistics, commercial real estate, healthcare, construction, and industrial operations.

That work has included:
  • building AI-native operational platforms
  • modernizing fragmented data environments
  • automating high-friction workflows
  • deploying AI systems in regulated environments
  • establishing governance, evaluation, and observability frameworks
A recurring pattern emerged across nearly every engagement: the limiting factor usually wasn't the AI model itself. It was the operational environment around it.

"Most organizations don't have an AI idea problem — they have an execution problem," said Nate Reynolds, Founder at Hypershift. "We've been collaborating on this work for a while now, and launching Hypershift.labs makes that collaboration official. We're excited to build something focused entirely on what it takes to make AI work inside real business environments."

A major part of that effort is being led by Rick Chakra, Founding Partner at Hypershift.Labs.

Chakra brings experience spanning enterprise consulting, applied AI research, and production AI engineering — a combination increasingly critical as companies attempt to move AI from experimentation into operational systems.

Prior to joining Hypershift, Chakra served as a Senior Consultant in Deloitte's Applied AI practice, advising financial services clients on mission-critical AI systems in regulated environments. He later led development work on proprietary AI systems, including a venture-backed AI risk benchmarking platform for autonomous vehicles developed in partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at UNC Charlotte's School of Data Science, where he teaches graduate-level applied AI courses and has trained more than 6,000 engineers, practitioners, and executives.

The launch reflects a broader shift occurring across enterprise AI: organizations are moving past experimentation and beginning to address the operational foundations required for AI to deliver measurable value.
