Governor Abbott Appoints Five To Texas Emergency Services Retirement System Board Of Trustees

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has made appointments and reappointments to the Texas Emergency Services Retirement System Board of Trustees. The board oversees and governs a dedicated retirement fund for volunteer firefighters and emergency services personnel in the state.
Matt Glaves, a resident of Alvin, has been reappointed to the board for a term set to expire on September 1, 2031. Glaves currently serves as an assistant fire chief with the Alvin Fire Department and brings a wealth of experience to the board. He is also a former sales manager with Blue Bell Creameries L.P. and holds various certifications in firefighting and emergency services. In addition, Glaves is actively involved in his community as a volunteer instructor with the Texas A&M Fire School and as a coordinator with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.
Jerry Romero, from El Paso, has also been reappointed to the board for a term set to expire on September 1, 2031. Romero is a self-employed financial consultant with previous experience working for Wells Fargo Bank and Bank of the West. He holds various leadership positions in organizations such as El Paso Housing Finance Corporation and Municipal Utility District 6. Romero's educational background includes studying finance at the University of Texas at El Paso and completing certification programs at the University of California John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management.

Joining Glaves and Romero on the board is Chris Anderson from Santa Fe, who has been newly appointed by Governor Abbott for a term set to expire on September 1, 2031. Anderson currently serves as fire chief for Santa Fe Fire and Rescue and brings extensive experience in firefighting to his new role. He previously served as deputy chief with Port of Houston Fire Department before becoming fire chief in Santa Fe.
Lindsay Price from Seabrook has also been newly appointed by Governor Abbott for a term set to expire on September 1, 2027. Price is a captain with Bay Towing and an EMT with Seabrook Emergency Management Services. She has previously served as a captain with SpaceX and volunteers as a captain with the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department. Price holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Environmental Sciences from SUNY Maritime College.
Lastly, Matt Hohon from Granbury has been newly appointed to the board for a term set to expire on September 1, 2027. Hohon currently serves as a territory representative with Delta Fire and Safety and brings previous experience as a CNC mill operator and airline pilot to his new role. He also serves as chief for the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department and holds a Bachelor of Science in Aviation and Business from Metropolitan State College of Denver.
