Governor Abbott Adds Palo Pinto County To Texas Severe Weather Disaster Declaration
EntSun News/11091075
~ In response to the severe storms that have impacted Texas this week, Governor Greg Abbott has announced an amendment to the state's disaster declaration. The update now includes Palo Pinto County, bringing the total number of counties covered by the declaration to four. The governor has also stated that additional counties may be added as needed.
According to Governor Abbott, the state is closely monitoring the affected communities and taking necessary measures to provide assistance. By updating the disaster declaration, first responders and emergency management teams will be able to quickly deploy critical resources to areas in need. The governor urges Texans to stay informed about weather conditions, create an emergency plan, and follow the guidance of state and local officials for their safety and that of their loved ones.
Damage assessments are currently underway and officials are reviewing reports submitted through the Texas Division of Emergency Management's Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) survey. Texans who have been affected by the severe storms are encouraged to self-report any damage using the iSTAT survey at damage.tdem.texas.gov when it is safe to do so. These reports will assist emergency management officials in understanding the extent of impacts and determining additional resource needs for affected areas. They will also help determine if federal requirements for disaster assistance have been met.
