TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ Tallahassee, FL - In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed ten new judges to serve in various judicial circuits across the state of Florida.

Among the appointments is David Arthmann, who will serve as a Judge on the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court. Arthmann brings a wealth of legal experience to the bench, having previously served as the General Counsel for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles since 2023. He also worked as the Director of Human Resources for the Florida Department of Corrections. Arthmann holds a bachelor's degree from Nova Southeastern University and a juris doctor from Florida State University. He will be filling the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Rebollo.

Jeremy Franker has been appointed to serve as a Judge on the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court. Franker has been serving as a County Court Judge for Broward County since his appointment by Governor DeSantis. Prior to that, he worked as a Trial Attorney for the Department of Justice, Criminal Division. Franker earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas and his juris doctor from St. Louis University. He will be filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Haury.

Governor DeSantis has also appointed Jeffrey Hendriks to serve as a Judge on the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Court. Hendriks has been serving as a County Court Judge for St. Lucie County since his appointment by Governor DeSantis. Before that, he worked as an Assistant State Attorney for the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit. Hendriks holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida and a juris doctor from Stetson University. He will be filling the vacancy left by Judge Roby's retirement.

Daniel Mittleman has been appointed to serve as a Judge on Martin County Court. Mittleman brings with him experience as an Assistant State Attorney for the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit since 2020. He holds a bachelor's degree from Florida State University and a juris doctor from Stetson University. Mittleman will be filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Roberts.

Megan Leaf has been appointed to serve as a Judge on the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court. Leaf has been serving as a County Court Judge for Sarasota County since her appointment by Governor DeSantis. She previously worked as an Assistant State Attorney for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit. Leaf holds a bachelor's degree from Florida State University and a juris doctor from Stetson University. She will be filling the vacancy left by Judge Smith's retirement.

Parker Hall has been appointed to serve as a Judge on DeSoto County Court. Hall has been working as an Associate at Silverio & Hall P.A. since 2018. He holds a bachelor's degree from Florida State University and a juris doctor from Stetson University. Hall will be filling the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Flowers.

Kaylin Humerickhouse has been appointed to serve as a Judge on Sarasota County Court. Humerickhouse brings experience as an Associate at Bentley, Goodrich, Kison, P.A., and previously served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit. She holds a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University and a juris doctor from Stetson University. Humerickhouse will be filling the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Legler.

Stephanie Vargas has been appointed to serve as a Judge on Orange County Court. Vargas currently serves as an Assistant County Attorney for the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners and is also a Judge Advocate for the United States Army. She previously worked as an Assistant State Attorney in the Ninth Judicial Circuit. Vargas holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida and a juris doctor from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. She will be filling the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Skipper.

Santiago brings experience as an Assistant Chief Counsel for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and also serves as a Judge Advocate for the United States Air Force. Patrick King has been appointed to serve as a Judge on Santa Rosa County Court. King has been working as an Assistant State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit since 2018 and previously served as a Supervising Attorney for the Department of Children and Families. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida and a juris doctor from Samford University. King will be filling the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Gordon.

These ten appointments by Governor DeSantis aim to fill vacancies left by retiring judges, ensuring that Florida's judicial system continues to operate smoothly and efficiently. The new judges bring diverse backgrounds and experiences to their roles, further strengthening Florida's legal system.
