Memorable events at town center celebrate start of a new school year
FORT MYERS, Fla. - EntSun -- The start of a new school year can bring about excitement, whether through reconnecting with friends or preparing for a year full of new things to learn. Edison Mall is providing the community with many different ways to celebrate the fresh start of a new school year. Through a selection of upcoming events, guests will be able to savor the last moments of summer and prepare for school in style.
"We are excited to help prepare kids, families, and educators in the Lee County community for this upcoming school year," said Brad Lunn, General Manager at Edison Mall. "As we look forward to an upcoming school year, we at the Edison Mall, want to support guests and offer ways to celebrate the start of an exciting new year in the classroom."
To help local students and educators prepare for the upcoming year, Edison Mall will host a Stuff the Bus Supply Drive kicking off Friday, July 23nd from 10 am to 1 pm with a Chalk It Up located across from Cinnabon. Come have some fun and take some photos of your artwork. Guests are encouraged to drop off a variety of school supply items at the town center office from July 22nd to August 6th at the Lee County Sheriff Outreach Center to benefit the underserved schools within the community.
Chalk It Up is an opportunity for guests to be creative, share their favorite part of a new school year, or a memory from a time when they used to be in school. The community is invited to draw and write what they are looking forward to, while also offering notes of appreciation to their teachers. The Chalk It Up Wall will be located across from Cinnabon in the passthrough.

Children will also have the opportunity to celebrate going back to school through the KidX Club® Back to School Fest on Saturday, August 6th from 12 pm to 4 pm. The event will feature hands-on activities, including art, Too Tall Torie, live DJ, fashion show and more. Families are encouraged to attend as the School District of Lee County will be on hand to answer any questions parents may have regarding the start of school. In addition, many nonprofits including, but not limited to the United Way, Dunbar Festival Committee, Junior Achievement, Childcare of SW Florida and more, will be on hand with information and resources for families.
The town center will also help guests prepare for a new academic year through participating in a Tax-Free Week from July 25th to August 7th. Community members can spend ten (10) days shopping tax-free for their back-to-school needs.
Come cool down after the start of the school year at the Edison Mall's Beat The Heat. We are so excited to help the Zach Martin Memorial Foundation with this "brisk" challenge to help raise awareness of heat related illness. Let us know if you want to dunk in our lot and we make it happen!

Challenge yourself to brave the chill and immerse yourself in cold water for at least 30 seconds here at the Edison Mall on Saturday. August 20th from 11 am to 2 pm. However, we will also be personally challenging others in the coming weeks. The basis of the challenge is: you are called out by someone to jump into cold water within 24 hours and/or donate $10 to the Zach Martin Memorial Foundation.
As teachers transition back into the classroom, Edison Mall will show them some love through Teacher Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 24th from 12 pm to 4 pm. Educators can enjoy teacher-exclusive promotions and discounts at retail space. Live music, canvas pours, drinks and more. Kids are invited to a KidX Art-In-The Air Halloween theme at the same time.
